SERIES BOOKING BENEFIT
Returning authors continuing a series originally designed by Ever After receive 10% off the base custom-cover rate from Book Two onward, along with priority placement in our upcoming-project queue.

Priority placement allows us to support established release schedules and maintain visual consistency across your series, but it does not guarantee an immediate or fixed start date. Please contact us as early as possible so we can consider your deadline when reviewing upcoming projects.

The discount applies to the base cover-design fee only. Additional formats, special-edition elements, illustration, licensing, and other add-ons are quoted separately. Projects requiring a complete change in creative direction or a full series rebrand may be quoted at our standard rate.

Our premade covers are finished, one-of-a-kind designs available exclusively to a single author. Once purchased, the design is removed from sale and personalised with your title, author name, and relevant cover copy.

Premade covers may be purchased once your book has been fully formatted and its final page count has been confirmed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Complete our project application and tell us about your book, preferred timeline, and creative direction. We’ll review your application and contact you if the project feels like a good fit for our studio.

If accepted, your project will be added to our upcoming-project queue without payment. At the end of each month, we’ll review our active schedule and contact you when we expect an opening to become available.
​
When we’re ready to begin, we’ll confirm that you’re prepared to move forward, send your terms for acceptance, and request your 50% retainer. Once these steps are complete, your project will be officially scheduled.
The retainer is 50% of your total project cost and is non-refundable. It will only be requested when we’re ready to officially schedule and begin your project.
We’ll provide an estimated start window, but this is not a guaranteed date. Your project will be officially scheduled once we contact you, confirm that you’re ready to begin, receive your accepted terms, and collect your 50% retainer.

If you’re not ready when an opening becomes available, that’s completely okay. We can move your project further down the queue and offer the opening to the next author.
​
If you require a firm booking date or would prefer not to wait for an opening, please let us know before joining the queue. We’ll be transparent about whether we can accommodate your timeline so you can make the best decision for your release without disrupting the schedules of other authors.
Creative schedules can quickly become overwhelming when too many projects are active at once—particularly when unexpected mental or physical health needs arise. We’ve changed our booking system to better support our designers while creating a more thoughtful and reliable experience for every author.

By focusing on one project at a time, we can give your story our full creative attention, communicate more clearly, and guide your cover through the design process with the care it deserves.
​
This also gives us greater flexibility to prioritise returning authors and series continuations, helping established visual worlds remain consistent from one book to the next.
​
We’re currently trialling this approach and will continue reviewing how well it works for both our authors and designers. If we find that it creates too much inconvenience for authors, we’ll return to advance bookings while accepting fewer projects each month.
Projects are assigned within the Ever After studio according to availability, style, and the needs of your story. Our designers work under a shared creative direction so every project receives the thoughtful, recognisable Ever After experience.
Yes. Our Cover Typography & Formatting service is designed for authors who already have a completed illustration or piece of cover art.

The artwork must be high-resolution and licensed for commercial book-cover use. We’ll design the typography and prepare the ebook and print-cover files around it.
Yes. Special-edition design is available as an add-on to eligible cover projects. Depending on the needs of your edition, this may include a dust jacket, case laminate, sprayed edges, endpapers, or other collector details.
Your first concept is generally created within approximately 10 business days of receiving everything required to begin. A complete project can take around two months, depending on feedback, revisions, responsiveness, and the complexity of the design.

With less overlapping projects, we estimate this time to be a lot shorter.
Custom cover design includes three rounds of revisions. Further revision rounds can be added for $150 NZD each.
No. We do not use generative AI imagery in our cover designs. Our work is created using appropriately licensed stock, typography, illustration, and other design assets.
Final publication-ready files are delivered within approximately 48 hours of final payment and approval.
If a publisher would like to continue using your existing cover design, please contact us before transferring or supplying any files.

We’ll review the original project terms and third-party asset licences, then work directly with you or the publisher to arrange the appropriate design licence, file preparation, and any required adaptations. Additional licensing or production fees may apply, and some stock imagery, fonts, or illustrations may need to be relicensed by the publisher.
